What actually lowers similarity?
A similarity report flags text that matches other sources: direct quotations, reference lists, common phrases, or paraphrase that still sits too close to the source. A high score does not automatically mean plagiarism, but universities, supervisors and journals often set their own limits.
The legitimate way is to improve the writing itself: paraphrase that genuinely restructures an idea in new words and structure, quotation marks and citations for direct quotes, and tidying the passages that really must be quoted. That is the work we do.
